Saling Reflection

On Wednesday the 7th of February the year 6 to 8s kids went to Saling Have A Go. To get there
everyone went in cars. I went in Hadley's mums car with Tyler, Tipenie and Hadley.
Everyone drove through Pounawea.
When we arrived I put on my sunglasses. Then Simon our instructor called all of us to come over then
he proceeded to tell us about the parts of the boat and where they go next he told us to put the parts into
our yachts and get them ready.

After that we ate morning tea, then when everyone finished eating we got dressed and took of the wheels
on the yachts and put them in the water then everyone hopped into their sailboats. Then we were off.
At first I was rusty but after awhile I got better and Tyler was also good at steering the yacht .
For about 2 hours straight everyone sailed around. Later we sailed to the shore and everyone including
the teachers ate lunch.

Next we got in the water again to play so we sailed out into the water to a small sandy area with birds.
After that we played a ball game for about an hour first we organized teams I was in Madox’s team, we
had to pass to our teammates we had 5 seconds to pass to our team.
After that we did capsizing I swam out of the boat before Tyler capsized it.

Not too long after that we went to the shore and grot dressed after everyone one got dressed they filled
in some pamphlets and drove home.

And my conclusion is that I like sailing because it was a good learning experience.

Warrick's Hockey Evaluation

On Thursday the 29th of June some of the year 5, 6, 7 and 8's went to the hockey tournament. Personally I enjoyed the hockey tournament because I wasn't hurt that bad despite being hit in the toe, and almost in the neck. I didn't need shin guard's at all I also didn't need spare cloths because I didn't get to wet or dirty in the hockey tournament. Below is a picture of the team that participated.

Warrick Flooding Story

On the 21st of July it started raining heavily. Because of it it caused floods in Otago and Canterbury meaning people who lived  there had to leave. My dad had to stay home and not go to work because the flooding was very bad. When he was at home he showed me a video about a river current going higher than it was before the flooding started. It was raining a lot which meant the river would rise higher that it was previously. Because of that, roads had to be closed. The river had to be closed so no accidents could happen to people and their cars. It is the first flood I ever have experienced in my life.

2017 Technology Dog House

On Wednesday on the 21st of June Warrick, Madox, Madelyn and Kane created a dog house with newspaper by rolling it up, after we put the walls up. Then we put on the roof, it was sheets of newspaper taped to the top of the structure, then we decorated it with various colors of card to make it look nice. I asked Madox to put a flag on the side, which he agreed to doing then we added some paper on the back to keep it warm inside for the dog to sleep in. We also wrapped a ball in newspaper for a toy for the dog to play with while inside. Afterwards we named the dog James and added bones on the colored card to make it interesting, then we added a forty hour famine poster on the roof.

Technology - Savoury Muffins

On Thursday when the year seven and eights were at technology the year one to sixes made savoury muffins in technology. We were split into three groups to make these. We got the option of Tomato, Red Onion, Spinach, Tasty Cheese or Ham to put in them. Miss Lamb and Mr Storer helped us with baking these. They were fun to bake and we hope we get to make something similar to them again in the near future.
