National Young Leaders Day

Writing- National Young Leaders Day

I woke up got ready and went to school, we all got picked up from Solly and made our way to Dunedin,
when we got out of the car we slapped our wristbands on and walked inside. When we made it to our
seats, all we could hear was music. When the thing started to go, it was silent but there were these
two loud voices and they were the hosts, Christian Gallen and Liz Alexander. They introduced
themselves and the first guest is...Amanda Wilson. She talked about herself and about horses, man
she loves horses. She said that she was really poor and she had to wear second hand clothes. Her
family owned over 80 horses all over the world but she has 18 with her in New Zealand. She also
said that she got picked on and she said you should never change.
Off she went and in came Lima Sopoaga, well actually he didn’t but a replacement came and I don't
know his name but he was a rugby player. He said you don't have to have the best stuff to play
and if you shoot for the moon and miss at least you will get the stars. Off he went and we went into
another room and had our morning tea.
We went back in and there was… Jono Naylor he said he was a politician and he said that his
favourite thing was to be a father and a grandfather. And bye bye. Ok and now came...Riley Hathaway,
(don't tell the others but she was my favourite) she said she was scared of the ocean, crabs and
seaweed. When she was in the water when the water level was up to her knees then she would start
swimming so the crabs wouldn't get her. Now she goes swimming with the sharks and she loves to
help clean up plastic and rubbish off the beach. She made her way off the stage and we went to have
lunch. Later that day we went bach to hear Te Waka McLeod and James Beck teach us maori.
I forgot what they said but before long they were gone and Vince Harder came on. He sang and
danced for us and it was really inspirational. Sadly we had to go. I recommend it for others because
it was a really good day.

Zoe's Poem About Extravaganza

My poem about Extravaganza

Vroom Vroom we're in the car,
on the way to Extravaganza.
Zip Zip to all of our activities,
With all my negativities.
Grunt Grunt, Tug Tug on the rope, Splish Splash, oh no someone fell in.
But oh well we got that win.
Now it's the end,

Have a good weekend.

My Experience At School Swimming

My Experience At School Swimming

The first day of swimming we went and did freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke to see what we could do and see what we needed to work on. We had a couple of mistakes and before we got changed  did a couple of dives into the pool. Then we had to focus on that and then we went to go get changed.

The second day of swimming we were working on backstroke, freestyle and breastroke again and that's when it all came together and we had to work on it till we got it right, we did dives again and it was better than the first day. Well that's what I thought. Then we went to get changed again.

The third day we did a few lengths of backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke  then we did some dolphin dives and practised the butterfly arms, then we did dives and say who could go the furthest. Then we got changed again.

The fourth day we did more lengths of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, then we practice the butterfly kick and and then we did it all together, it was hard. We did dives again and who could go the furthest again. Then we got out.

The last day we did 800 metres of lengths and did some butter fly and it was fun and hard. It took a long time to get the rhythm of it. We did dives and a who can hold their breath the longest and Mrs G did not like that, when we got out and dressed and drove to the park for a picnic.

Zoe's Reading Activity

This is my reading activity and I had a sheet of questions that I had to answer.
My book was called Underground Soldiers.

1. What was painted on the rock walls?
KIA Ora NZ with furn leaves going down on each side.
2. Who mainly built the tunnels?
Army soldiers.
3. How many men left nz in 1915?
More than 4000 men.
4. Where was no man's land?
In the middle.
5. Explain what tunnel warfare was?
The war was underground.
6. What was so dangerous about counter mining?
That it might fall on you.
7. What happened at 5.30 am on easter morning?
An explosion ripped through the air and it was freezing and there was sleet so they had to get out of the exit tunnels.
8. How did the tasks of the tunneling company change after the battle of arras?
The men worked manly above the ground and helped to hold territory captured by the allies.

Thanks for reading.

Bluebell

Bluebell is my cat, and I can't lie about that.
She is so fluffy, but she can be quite duffy.
My cat eats my tea, but she's special to me.
She is very caring, but if you mess with her she can start tearing.

And if you don't chase, you will still have your face.

Eagles

When the bald eagle got his salmon I thought it was amazing how majestic the eagle was. The eagle has amazing long wings. I think bald eagles are amazing. I think that their claws are amazingly sharp. I saw how rapidly fast eagles can fly. I was terrified when I heard that we had to write about bald eagles but now I'm glad. Eagles are so mystifying and talented. I think they are so talented with their talons. I now know that they crave and are obsessed with salmon. They are incredible creatures. I wonder what it's like to be an eagle. I am absolutely glad I'm not a salmon.
